Teams Confirmed for 2019/20
7 September 2019
From a Men’s perspective it’s been a summer of change. With the difficulties we had towards the end of last season to consistently field 4 sides we took the difficult but sensible decision to withdraw our Colts from the Yeovil League, leaving us with 3 teams competing in the Perry Street League. Overall at the Club we still field 8 sides this season, as we introduce our newly formed Under 7s progressing from last season’s Mini Soccer Development squad.
Men’s First Team
The First Team, sponsored by Allglass & Glazing, is under new management this season with Scott Jennings taking over from Lee Gillman. Scott has built on the existing good squad by both bringing in new players and also promoting from the Reserves. They have had an encouraging pre-season, reaching the Chard Hospital Cup semi final. Scott will be assisted this season by his Dad, Harvey.
Men’s Reserve Team
It's all change for the Reserves this season, with several players promoted to the First Team and some of last season's Colts joining. They are also under new management, as Lee Drayton returns to the Club having been involved with the First Team at the start of last season. Lee was only appointed this week, so has had limited time to work with the squad, but has been able to bring a few new faces to bolster the numbers ahead of the opening fixture. Lee will be assisted by Barry Hayne. The side are sponsored by Chalmers & Co Accountants.
Men’s A Team
No changes at the top for the A Team, with Ash Lawrence and Simon Cross still at the reigns. They do however welcome many new faces after a busy pre-season campaign, with several Reserves players from last season also providing reinforcements. They are sponsored by Oliver James Carpentry.
Entering their third season the Ladies will once again be led by Millie Wiltshire, with Courtney Drayton her assistant. The Ladies, sponsored by The King William Inn, have lost influential Captain Emily Cole for this season who is expecting her first child, but also welcome some new players to the ranks.
Our Under 11s enter their second season as part of Crewkerne Rangers and are again led by Duncan Wadsworth, alongside assistant Marc Vickery. This season they will play their home games at Holyrood School in Chard, while we still await the pitch improvement works to be completed at Wadham School. Allglass & Glazing remain as sponsors for a second season.
Scott Isaacs takes the Weavers into their 4th season, and will be supported by Chris Saunders. The Under 10s will also relocate from Drimpton to Holyrood for the season. The team are once again sponsored by Lyn Financial Services.
It’s a second season for the Lions, coached by Tony Aslett who this season will be ably assisted by Ade Morris. The team, playing at Henhayes, have a new sponsor this season in Quinn Building Products, who will be familiar to many of you from their sponsorship of the Men’s Colts team and various Club events over the past 2 seasons.
A new team for this season, graduating from the Under 6s Development Squad which was coached by Lee Gillman last season. Bob Knott and Tim Swatridge are at the wheel for their debut season. Home matches will be played at Henhayes and they also welcome on board new kit sponsor MP & Yeoline Taxis.
